As an Englishman in America, I’ve been fully convinced that being a part of a motorcycle group is a wonderful experience, however a great many people think that biker gangs have some inherent tendency toward violence or getting into trouble.
But if you were to hang out with most people in the Del Valley area who are in biker gangs, you will find they are more about the camaraderie and brotherhood.
One of the best parts of being in a motorcycle group is heading to a biker bar. But we can understand that someone who has never done this before would be a little apprehensive.
If you are worried about how it will go for you at a biker bar, we have a few tips that will help you have a great time.
- Do Not Show Off
When you ride up to a biker bar with a shiny bike that looks as though it has never been ridden before, you are asking for trouble. No one will pick a fight, but you can expect some dirty looks. Why? Because you will come across as a show off. Bikers have quality motorcycles because we love them. We love riding these bikes, exploring the countryside and bonding over our shared experiences. We do not have bikes to show off or look cool.
- Stop Assuming Someone Wants to Fight
If you are walking on your tiptoes around a biker bar, looking over your shoulder every few seconds, then you are asking for trouble. You must feel comfortable in the environment. Come in with your group, sit down, order a beer and whiskey, and relax. Engage in conversation, have fun, be polite if a stranger comes up to you, and you will have a great time.
- Get to Know the Bartender
The best way to ensure that you are always welcome at a particular biker bar is to talk with the bartender. When you are going somewhere for the first time, ask a friend to introduce you. Talk about your bike, how and why you joined the club, and mention some of your other interests.
When you chat up a bartender, give them a good tip and generally have a good demeanor, they will think you are cool. And when a bartender at a biker bar thinks you are alright, you are not going to get any trouble from others.
It can be an intimidating experience when you walk into a biker bar for the very first time. It is not the easiest experience for a novice. But we promise that you will have a great time, provided you are not a showoff who is looking to get into a fight!
